Privacy Policy for Kanji Search

This Privacy Policy explains how Rottz Mobile Games LLC ("Rottz Games", "we", "us") handles information in connection with the mobile game Kanji Search (the "Game"). By installing or using the Game you agree to this Policy.

1. Summary

Kanji Search is a single-player, offline kanji puzzle game. We do not require an account, and the Game functions primarily on your device. We do not operate servers that build personal profiles about you; the only data we receive on our own backend is what you choose to send when you submit a kanji correction report (see Section 2). Other limited data is processed by trusted third parties for analytics, crash reporting, advertising, purchases, and optional cloud save / achievements through your platform (Google or Apple) account. Where required, we ask for your consent first.

2. Information we process

We do not ask you to provide personal information directly. Depending on the features you use and your consent choices, the following may be processed:

• Device & technical data — device model, operating system, language, app version, coarse connectivity status, and similar diagnostics, used to run and stabilize the Game.
• Usage & analytics data — in-game events (e.g. matches played, screens viewed) collected via Google Firebase Analytics. The Game offers an analytics toggle: if you turn it off, we signal your choice via Google Consent Mode and events are processed without persistent identifiers (so they cannot be linked to you or your device), limiting analytics to aggregate/modelled measurement.
• Crash & diagnostic data — crash logs and error reports via Google Firebase Crashlytics, used to fix bugs and improve stability.
• Advertising data — when ads are shown, the advertising SDK (Google AdMob) may process an advertising identifier and limited device/ad-interaction data. In regions that require it, ads are shown only after you make a consent choice (see Section 4).
• Purchase data — if you buy the premium subscription or other in-app products, the purchase is processed by Google Play Billing or Apple StoreKit. We receive a purchase/entitlement status, not your full payment details.
• Play Games / Game Center data (optional) — if you sign in to Google Play Games Services (Android) or Game Center (iOS), your platform player identifier, achievements, and Saved Games (cloud save) data are processed by that platform so your progress can sync across devices.
• Report / correction data (optional) — if you use the in-Game report feature to flag an issue with a kanji's data, the Game sends to our own backend the reported kanji and the in-game content shown for it (its meaning, reading, and puzzle letters), the issue category you select, any free-text comment you choose to type, and basic context (your app version, platform, language, and a timestamp) so we can review and correct the Game's content. This is sent only when you submit a report, and requests are protected by an anti-abuse attestation check. Please do not include personal information in the free-text comment.

3. How we use information

We use the information above to: operate and maintain the Game; save and sync your progress (if you opt in to cloud save); diagnose crashes and improve performance; understand aggregate usage (if analytics is enabled); display and measure advertising (subject to consent); process and restore purchases; review and act on correction reports you submit to improve the Game's content; and comply with legal obligations.

4. Advertising & your consent

The Game may display banner and interstitial ads via Google AdMob. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and other applicable regions, we use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain your consent before serving personalized ads. You can:

• Choose non-personalized ads (or withdraw consent) where the consent form is shown;
• Remove ads entirely by purchasing the premium subscription;
• Reset or change your ad-consent choice from the Game's privacy/consent option where available;
• On iOS, control tracking via App Tracking Transparency and your device settings; on Android, reset your advertising ID in system settings.

5. Analytics & your choice

Analytics is provided by Firebase Analytics and respects a setting in the Game. If you disable analytics, we signal that choice (including via Google Consent Mode) and analytics collection is limited accordingly.

6. Legal bases (EEA/UK)

Where the GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we rely on: consent (analytics and personalized advertising); legitimate interests (security, crash fixing, fraud prevention, basic non-personalized functionality); and performance of a contract (processing purchases and delivering features you request, such as cloud save).

7. Third-party services

These providers process data as described in their own policies:

We do not sell your personal information.

8. Data sharing

We share data only with the service providers above to deliver the features you use, and where required by law. Correction reports you submit are received and processed by us on our own backend (not sold or shared with third parties for their own marketing). We do not share data with other third parties for their own marketing.

9. Data retention

On-device data (settings, local progress) remains until you delete it or uninstall the Game. Data held by third parties (analytics, crash, ads, purchases, cloud save) is retained per their policies. Cloud-save data persists in your Google/Apple account until you delete it. Correction reports you submit (including any free-text comment) are stored on our backend for as long as needed to review and improve the Game's content, after which they are deleted or anonymized.

10. Security

We rely on the security measures of the platforms and SDKs we use. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect information.

11. Children's privacy

Kanji Search is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Where required, ads are configured appropriately and consent is obtained. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate action.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. EEA/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@rottzgames.com. You may also manage ad/analytics choices in the Game and in your device settings, and manage purchases and cloud-save data in your Google/Apple account.

13. International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards under applicable law.

14. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, an in-Game notice.
